The Slovak Commission for UNESCO Forum, which took place on October 28, 2024, was dedicated to education and the UNESCO brand, which highlights our tangible and intangible heritage, our culture, traditions and beautiful landscape. The forum was attended by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár, Secretary General of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO Denisa Frelichová, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic Ján Hrinko, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic Gabriela Matečná, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Slovak Republic to UNESCO Anna Plassat Muríňová, Director of the Regional Crafts Center Bratislava, Headquarters of Folk Art Production (ÚĽUV) Milena Holánová. State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, Gabriela Matečná, also highlighted the efforts of SAS scientists working in biosphere reserves and geoparks of the Slovak Republic.
The opening remarks were followed by panel discussions. A discussion on the topic “Digital Technologies in Children – Good Servant/Bad Master” took place with Dagmar Kopčanová, Head of the Education and Training Section of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO, Michal Rybár, Director of the Digital Transformation Department, Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, Sofia Šillerová, Youth Delegate of the Slovak Republic to the UN, and Jakub Žaludka, Impact Games, who presented education in the form of digital games https://www.impactgames.eu/. The second discussion concerned “Practical experiences of Slovak actors under the UNESCO brand – how to compete with the screen”, which was attended by Miron Breznoščák, representative of the Andrej Kmeť Gymnasium in Banská Štiavnica, a UNESCO affiliated school, Pavel Michal, director of the Maximilián Hella Primary and Kindergarten in Štiavnické Bane, a UNESCO affiliated school https://www.zakladnaskola.com/o-skole and Vladimíra Fabriciusová, chairwoman of the Slovak Committee on Man and the Biosphere, Slovak Commission for UNESCO.
The Slovak Commission for UNESCO highlights the preservation of our cultural heritage and the need for the development of education. It also points to the need for digital education, mental health and the quality of education to which we are committed by the 2030 Agenda.
