Matej Bel University

Matej Bel University is a public higher education institution that was granted university status in 2010 and is a member of the European University Association. It is the first Slovak university with the “HR Excellence in Research” label. It currently has 7 faculties (Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, Faculty of Pedagogy and Faculty of Physical Education, Sport and Health) and almost 600 university teachers and researchers. For about 7,000 students, the classical university offers a spectrum of educational opportunities in all three levels and forms of study in the fields of education, social sciences, economics, law, political sciences, humanities, natural sciences and international relations. In addition to pedagogical, scientific and artistic activities, a significant part of UMB’s creative activity is basic and applied research in cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions. UMB has 3 centres of research excellence, solves scientific and development projects from international and structural funds. The University has participated in projects under the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Programmes, as well as Horizon 2020 and currently Horizon Europe. It has many years of experience in participating in many other research projects funded by various grant schemes such as NIL, OSF, CEEPUS, Interreg Central Europe, British KHF, American Express, EEA GRANTS, VISEGRAD, etc. It has had several successful projects in the Erasmus+ grant scheme, both as a partner and as a project coordinator.
